The "Housing Sector System" contributes to facilitating homeownership for 55,000 families during the first quarter of 2022

The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, represented by the Housing Sector, achieved many accomplishments during the first quarter of this year 2022, most notably facilitating homeownership for more than 55,000 families, as part of the efforts to increase the rate of homeownership for Saudi families to 70% by 2030 through easy electronic procedures, in accordance with the objectives of the Housing Program - one of the programs of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

The ministry explained in a press statement that the number of Saudi families benefiting from the Sakani program during the last quarter exceeded 46,000 families, while the number of families who moved into their homes by taking advantage of the housing options and various financing solutions provided by the program exceeded 55,000 new families, within an immediate entitlement and easy electronic procedures.

The ministry indicated that it issued about 48,000 real estate transaction certificates for the first home through the "Sakani" website and application, bringing the total to more than 654,000 certificates. The "Sakani" platform facilitated the issuance of electronic contracts for more than 10,000 residential plots, an increase of 219% compared to the previous quarter. "Sakani" signed more than 1,600 contracts for in-kind support, which was launched during the last quarter on the "Sakani" platform, by utilizing the subsidized mortgage loan to purchase housing units in off-plan sales projects. This is within the diverse housing options and services that the program provides to its beneficiaries from Saudi families. Recently, the engineering design conforming to the Wadi Hanifa code was added to the "Sakani" platform.

The Developmental Housing Program continued to deliver suitable housing units to the most needy families in a number of cities and regions of the Kingdom, while the Sustainable Building Program issued more than 921 certificates and reports for building quality services, inspection of ready-made buildings, and sustainability assessment for major projects. Through the off-plan sales or leasing program “Wafi”, the program qualified more than 70 real estate developers and issued 30 licenses for large, small and medium residential projects.

The “White Land” program also issued invoices for the sixth round of fees in Riyadh, Jeddah and the Dammam metropolitan area, bringing the total number of invoices issued since the beginning of the program to more than 8,300 invoices in all cities where the fees are applied, and registered lands with an area of more than 500 million square meters, and spending more than 2.2 billion riyals on infrastructure development within more than 80 residential projects .

The areas of the subdivided units within the real estate unit subdivision program exceeded 6.5 million square meters, and the Mulak” program registered 2,975 associations during the last quarter with the aim of organizing the relationship between the owners of joint ownership, so that the total number of registered owners’ associations exceeds 20,000 associations.

The Ejar program has recorded more than 510,000 residential and commercial lease contracts, including 370,000 residential lease contracts, an increase of more than 20% compared to the previous quarter. This is part of the program's efforts to regulate the rental sector and preserve the rights of (the landlord, the tenant, and the real estate broker). Ejar also launched the "Rental Index" service, "Rental Behavior" and "Holding and Handing Over".

It is worth mentioning that the Ministry’s housing system efforts have achieved a number of accomplishments over the past years, most notably raising the rate of homeownership for Saudi families from 47% in 2016 to an ownership rate exceeding 60% by the end of 2020, and enabling the ownership of the first home with immediate entitlement and without waiting. The housing sector continues to achieve its objectives by supporting Saudi families and enabling them to own or benefit from the first home .
