His Excellency the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, Mr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail, has approved the “Guide for Fencing Commercial Construction Sites”, which aims to regulate the construction sites of commercial buildings and their external appearance, by specifying technical specifications for the requirements of fencing construction sites in those projects.

The guide contributes to reducing visual distortion and improving the urban landscape, as well as allocating space for storing building materials used in the project, separating work areas from the external environment, protecting pedestrians and drivers from encroachment on roads and streets, controlling and regulating construction work sites and licensing them according to unified standards, preserving private property and reducing encroachment on public facilities. This guide will be applied to construction projects for residential, commercial and governmental buildings that have been issued building permits according to the technical and standard details in the guide throughout the Kingdom.

The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing published the guide on the ministry’s website, and it will be implemented starting from March 23, 2023. The ministry also gave existing commercial buildings three months to rectify their situations.
