The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, represented by the General Directorate of Innovation and Business Solutions Development, launched the “Innovation Council,” in a step aimed at establishing innovation as an institutional approach to developing the municipal and housing sectors, and raising the efficiency of services provided to beneficiaries, in order to enhance the quality of life in the cities and governorates of the Kingdom.
The launch of the council comes as an extension of the ministry’s efforts to enhance integration among the components of its system, and to enable relevant parties to discuss priority challenges within a participatory framework that focuses on creating practical and implementable solutions, in line with the ministry’s objectives of improving the urban landscape, raising the quality of services, and promoting urban sustainability.
The ministry explained that the "Innovation Council" is a periodic council that includes relevant departments and a number of specialized experts, and aims to raise challenges, identify priorities, and exchange experiences, in order to accelerate the pace of development and raise the efficiency of institutional performance.
She explained that the council aims to promote a culture of innovation within the system, enabling entities to anticipate challenges through flexible work mechanisms, activating partnerships, and expanding the adoption of innovative solutions, in order to support the development of more efficient and sustainable municipal and housing services.
The ministry affirmed that the establishment of the council will contribute to developing work mechanisms, enhancing integration between entities, and supporting decision-making based on data and field information, thereby increasing the effectiveness of solutions and transforming challenges into applicable development opportunities.
She added that the council will work to accelerate access to innovative solutions by bringing together specialized expertise in one work environment, thereby enhancing the readiness of the municipal and housing sector to keep pace with future changes and improve the efficiency of response to development challenges.
The launch of the "Innovation Council" comes as part of the Ministry's efforts to build a more prepared and sustainable urban environment, and to enhance the competitiveness of Saudi cities in the areas of urban planning, service management and infrastructure development.
