Ministry of Municipalities and Housing: Taif Municipality completes urban development and humanization projects in key locations and vital axes to serve pilgrims

The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing announced that the Taif Governorate Municipality has completed urban development and humanization projects in a number of vital locations and axes related to serving the guests of God, as part of its efforts to raise operational readiness and improve the experience of pilgrims and visitors during the Hajj season of 1447 AH.

The projects included the development and preparation of 4 main sites, including the Miqat of Wadi Mahram and Qarn al-Manazil, in addition to the development of a number of vital roads, most notably Abu Bakr al-Siddiq Street and Shahar al-Aam Street, which contributes to improving the urban landscape and raising the efficiency of services in high-density sites.

The Secretariat implemented development works that included improving more than 4.3 kilometers of roads, creating more than 16,000 square meters of sidewalks and plazas, in addition to preparing more than 3.8 kilometers of pedestrian paths designated for the blind, the elderly and people with disabilities, which enhances ease of movement and raises the level of safety and comfort for visitors.

The projects also included the implementation of more than 4,600 m2 of green spaces, and the planting of more than 3,500 trees and shrubs, as part of efforts to improve the urban landscape and enhance the quality of the urban environment in the targeted axes and locations.

The work included the implementation of more than 4,800 square meters of basalt stone flooring, with the aim of reducing temperatures and improving the quality of paths and squares, in addition to preparing more than 200 public facilities and services, in order to preserve the urban environment and raise the level of municipal services provided to pilgrims and visitors.

The Secretariat also worked to enhance safety and comfort by implementing more than 900 ground lighting units, installing more than 200 lighting units, in addition to equipping more than 300 parking spaces for vehicles, and providing more than 200 seats to serve visitors at the targeted sites.

These projects are part of the efforts of the municipalities and housing system to enhance operational readiness during the Hajj season and improve the quality of municipal services provided to pilgrims and visitors in Taif Governorate.
