Ministry of Municipalities and Housing: 1300 samples tested daily and more than 2800 inspection visits carried out in Makkah and the holy sites

The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has intensified its health and food safety inspections in Makkah and the Holy Sites as part of its operational preparations for the Hajj season of 1447 AH, with the aim of enhancing compliance and raising the level of safety in food and commercial establishments.

The ministry explained that the operational system includes more than 380 food safety and catering inspectors, and 403 environmental sanitation personnel, which supports the efficiency of field monitoring and increases the speed of response in the targeted locations.

The ministry confirmed its support for monitoring operations through 5 advanced laboratories with an operational capacity of up to 1,300 samples per day, equivalent to examining one sample every minute, to ensure the safety of food, water and services provided to the pilgrims.

Inspectors also carry out more than 2,800 daily inspection visits to food and commercial establishments, which contributes to raising compliance levels and enhancing the efficiency of services provided during the season.

These actions are part of an integrated monitoring system implemented by the Ministry in Makkah and the Holy Sites, within its plans aimed at raising the quality of municipal and health services provided to pilgrims during the Hajj season of 1447 AH.

The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing had announced, as part of its operational plans for the Hajj season of 1447 AH, the implementation of more than 11 million linear meters of roads, and the treatment and development of approximately 74 million square meters of road surfaces, in addition to raising the readiness of 123 bridges and 44 tunnels for pedestrians and vehicles, and preparing 62 additional tunnels within the movement and transportation system in the Holy Sites, as well as operating 66 field service centers, including 28 centers within the Holy Sites, and implementing and equipping 20 pedestrian bridges and 18 tunnels, which supports the speed of response and raises the efficiency of movement and operational services in high-density locations, in addition to operating more than 330,000 lighting units and 150,000 lighting poles in Makkah and the Holy Sites, which enhances the levels of safety and quality of services provided to the pilgrims.

The Ministry, represented by the regional secretariats, also prepared more than 4,500 male and female volunteers within the municipal volunteering system to participate in serving the guests of God in vital locations, ports and roads leading to the holy sites, in support of operational and service efforts during the season .
