The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, represented by the regional secretariats, announced the participation of more than 17,000 male and female volunteers to date in serving the guests of God during the Hajj season of 1447 AH, within the municipal volunteering system aimed at supporting field and service efforts in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, the holy sites and the entrances leading to them.
The ministry explained that more than 5,100 male and female volunteers are carrying out their work in the holy sites, through a number of field volunteer routes that contribute to enhancing the quality of services provided to pilgrims, and supporting the organization, guidance and crowd management processes during the stages of the movement of the guests of God between the holy sites.
She explained that the volunteers participated in carrying out various field work, including guiding pilgrims to their locations, assisting in crowd management operations, participating in the search for missing persons in coordination with the competent authorities, in addition to distributing the necessary supplies for pilgrims, which included umbrellas, water containers and sanitary tools, in a way that contributes to enhancing their comfort and reducing the effects of heat stress during the season.
The ministry affirmed that the municipal volunteering system represents one of the paths supporting raising the efficiency of municipal services during the Hajj season, and enhancing the participation of community members in serving the guests of God, reflecting the values of giving and volunteer work, and consolidating integration between government agencies and volunteers in serving the pilgrims.
She indicated that its operational plans for the Hajj season of 1447 AH continue their work through an integrated field and service system, which includes cleaning, environmental sanitation, municipal control and volunteering, in line with the density of movement in the holy sites, and enhances the quality of services provided to the guests of God from their arrival until their safe departure.
