The Ministry of Municipality and Housing intensifies inspection tours to reduce the phenomenon of construction waste in the Kingdom's cities.

The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing has intensified its inspection tours to reduce construction waste at construction sites, as part of its ongoing efforts to raise the level of compliance and improve the urban landscape in all regions of the Kingdom, and to raise awareness among contractors and building owners and warn them against committing violations related to construction work, in an effort to achieve the objectives of the Quality of Life Program - one of the programs of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

The ministry explained in a press statement today that the campaign aims to monitor 30 violations, most notably the failure to fence construction sites, mixing cement on sidewalks and streets, and dumping construction waste on other people's lands or public places. The violations also include the failure to remove construction, demolition or restoration waste, damaging paved and asphalted streets when using construction equipment, transporting soil from places not designated for that purpose, and not cleaning the site during and after work.

The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing called on citizens and residents to cooperate with it to achieve the goals of the initiative by reporting violations through the municipalities’ special applications or the unified reporting number 940.

The ministry noted that the violations targeted in this campaign can be viewed via the link https://balady.gov.sa/Services/DownloadUserGuide/668

It is worth mentioning that the Ministry, represented by the secretariats and municipalities, was able during the past year 2021 to remove approximately 121 million cubic meters of construction and demolition waste and excavation debris from vacant lands, as part of its ongoing efforts to implement the “Addressing Visual Distortion” initiative.
