Today, the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing and King Saud University signed a contract to implement the Higher Diploma Program in Urban Planning and Design for employees of the Ministry and the regional secretariats and municipalities affiliated with it, under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, Mr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail, and His Excellency the President of King Saud University, Professor Dr. Badran bin Abdulrahman Al-Omar.
This agreement comes within the framework of the Ministry’s endeavor to qualify its staff professionally and develop the skills of workers in the field of urban planning and design and related programs, and to develop investment in human capital between the two parties. The Ministry was represented in the signing by the Head of the Support Services Sector, Omar bin Mohammed Al-Mahasen, while King Saud University was represented by the Dean of the King Abdullah Institute for Research and Consulting Studies, Dr. Abdullah bin Ahmed Al-Thabit.
The agreement will contribute to developing the skills of the ministry’s employees and its affiliated secretariats and municipalities by utilizing local and international expertise for development, training and qualification, with a number of local and international bodies in the field of urban planning and design.
The Higher Diploma Program in Urban Planning and Design is implemented through the Urban Planning Department at King Saud University, with the participation of King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah. A number of international experts and lecturers from prestigious international universities, institutes, and centers of expertise will be utilized. A number of specialized institutes and centers in developed countries will also participate, to send candidates enrolled in the program on scientific and practical visits to those institutes and centers outside the Kingdom.
The program management will work on providing and designing practical and field applications to implement the higher diploma courses in urban planning and design, and hold training courses, meetings and forums to develop the skills of workers in the field of urban landscape to keep pace with the latest developments in modern science to support the ministry’s staff scientifically and professionally.
