Mandatory implementation of the decision after two months
The Ministry of Municipality and Housing launches its awareness campaign to fence off construction sites for residential buildings.
The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing has begun its awareness campaign aimed at highlighting the importance of fencing construction sites for residential buildings in all neighborhoods of cities and governorates, and its role in improving the urban landscape and preserving the safety of pedestrians and road users from construction work on the land, with mandatory implementation to begin at the start of the next Hijri year 1444 AH.
The purpose of fencing off construction sites for residential buildings is to preserve the streets and roads surrounding the land on which the buildings are to be constructed, by erecting a temporary fence on the entire land that allows the building owner and the contractor to store the building materials to protect and preserve them. The fence also contributes to providing safety for pedestrians and road users from the construction work taking place on the land.
Through this initiative, the Ministry seeks to regulate construction sites and enhance the visual appeal of city streets and neighborhoods by preserving their external appearance, by setting technical specifications for the requirements of fencing construction project sites in residential buildings, and supporting the efforts of the Urban Landscape Improvement Initiative aimed at removing the most common visual distortion elements in the Kingdom’s cities.
The Ministry urges landowners and contractors wishing to start construction to quickly implement temporary fences in accordance with the approved specifications and requirements, in order to avoid violations and fines, as the obligation will begin to be enforced starting from the beginning of the next Hijri year 1444 AH.
It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing recently launched the “Guide to Fencing Construction Sites for Residential Buildings”, which includes the technical and construction specifications for the fence. The guide can be viewed by visiting the Ministry’s website www.momrah.gov.sa .
