The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing confirmed the mandatory nature of the craft licensing service for workers in a number of commercial activities supervised by the municipal sector, starting from June 1, 2023. It has become one of the requirements for practicing craft professions, as well as the process of issuing and renewing commercial licenses for establishments, in cooperation with the Professional Examination Program of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, to activate and enable the role of the private sector by automating the licensing process and facilitating the work of investors and supporting them, which contributes to raising the quality of life for the residents and visitors of the Kingdom.
The ministry explained that a professional license in some municipal activities will be a basic requirement for renewing and issuing commercial licenses for establishments through the "Baladi" platform, stressing the obligation to have at least one professionally licensed worker, by verifying the existence of the necessary academic qualifications, experience and skills to perform their work with high efficiency, provide professional services with quality and mastery, and ensure protection for beneficiaries and compensate them in the event of damage to the products or services provided, calling on owners of establishments to expedite and not delay in issuing professional licenses for workers through the platform, so that the renewal or issuance of commercial licenses for their establishments is not stopped.
The professional license provides a competitive advantage for establishments with customers, and qualifies workers to obtain a professional examination certificate from the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development in (81) professions.
