During the first day of his official visit to the People’s Republic of China, His Excellency the Minister of Municipalities and Housing, Mr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail, oversaw the signing of 6 agreements and memoranda of understanding between Saudi and Chinese entities and companies. He also witnessed the awarding of new housing projects in the cities of Riyadh and Dammam with a total value exceeding 1.9 billion riyals, within the framework of strengthening the Saudi-Chinese partnership in the housing and construction sectors.
The agreements and memoranda of understanding included areas of investment in the construction sector, localization of modern building technologies, transfer of knowledge and expertise, development of human capabilities, and support for partnerships between the public and private sectors, in addition to areas of engineering design, financing solutions, and project study and pricing, which contribute to raising the efficiency of implementation, accelerating completion and improving the quality of housing projects.
His Excellency also witnessed the awarding of the “Al-Ruba” residential project in Riyadh with CACC , which includes 2,010 residential units worth 875 million riyals, in addition to the awarding of the “Al-Rasha Al-Faisaliyah” project in Dammam with China State , which includes 2,426 residential units worth 1.06 billion riyals.
Within the framework of the partnership targets with Chinese companies to implement 100,000 housing units by 2030, the visit witnessed progress in the volume of signed contracts, as the 2025 target was completed with the signing of contracts to implement 18,000 housing units, while the contracts signed for 2026 exceeded the threshold of 19,000 housing units, bringing the total number of housing units contracted to be implemented to more than 37,000 housing units.
The first day of the visit also witnessed the launch of the "Saudi-Chinese Contractors Forum" organized by the Saudi Contractors Authority, with the aim of strengthening cooperation between contracting companies in the two countries, and expanding areas of partnership in housing, infrastructure and urban development.
His Excellency the Minister of Municipalities and Housing affirmed that these outputs are an extension of the efforts to develop the housing and construction sector through the localization of modern technologies, raising local content, enhancing implementation efficiency, and expanding the housing supply in various regions of the Kingdom in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
His Excellency pointed out that international partnerships contribute to developing supply chains, building national capabilities and raising the quality of projects, stressing the Ministry’s continued commitment to expanding its international partnerships and enabling the global private sector to invest and operate in the Saudi market, thereby enhancing the Kingdom’s position as a major destination in the real estate development and housing sector.
