His Excellency the Minister of Municipalities and Housing, Mr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail, began a visit to New York City on Sunday, July 12, 2026, during which he will head the Kingdom’s delegation participating in the high-level General Assembly meeting on the New Urban Agenda, organized by the United Nations at its headquarters in New York, which represents a mid-term review of the implementation of the New Urban Agenda .
The Kingdom’s participation comes within the framework of its active presence in international forums concerned with sustainable development, and to showcase its achievements in urban development within the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, reflecting the transformation that Saudi cities are witnessing in enhancing the efficiency of urban infrastructure, raising the quality of life, developing the urban environment, and building more sustainable cities capable of supporting economic growth .
His Excellency the Minister will participate in the main session, where he will deliver the Kingdom’s speech, reviewing the Saudi experience in urban development, the role of cities in supporting sustainable development, and enhancing integration between urban planning, the economy, and quality of life, in line with global targets for sustainable development, in addition to reviewing the progress report on the implementation of the New Urban Agenda submitted by the Kingdom .
The Kingdom’s participation in the high-level General Assembly meeting on the New Urban Agenda confirms its commitment to the international agenda on development, and its continued contribution to international efforts aimed at building sustainable cities, exchanging experiences and expertise, and highlighting the Saudi model in urban development as one of the leading models that combines long-term planning, economic development, and improving the quality of life .
