The Minister of Municipalities and Housing meets with the Minister of Cities and Planning of the Republic of Djibouti to discuss opportunities for cooperation between the two countries.

His Excellency the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, Mr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail, met today in his office with Her Excellency the Minister of Cities, Urban Planning and Housing of Djibouti, Ms. Amina Abdi, and her accompanying delegation, to discuss opportunities for joint cooperation between the two sides, and ways to benefit from the programs and services provided by the Ministry within the municipal and housing sectors, in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing for Customer Experience and Customer Service and the General Supervisor of the General Department of Institutional Partnerships and International Cooperation, His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr Al Saud, and His Excellency the Ambassador of the Republic of Djibouti in Riyadh, Mr. Diaa El-Din Saeed Bakhrama, and a number of leaders of the Ministry and the Embassy.

The meeting witnessed a discussion of a number of topics of common interest between the two sides, and ways to develop quality partnerships between the Ministry and housing programs and infrastructure projects in the Republic of Djibouti. The meeting also reviewed the successes achieved by the housing sector in the Kingdom in order to increase the percentage of Saudi families owning homes from 47% to 60% within 4 years, through creating diverse housing options and services under the umbrella of the Housing Program - one of the programs of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 - which contributed to enhancing the quality of life standards of Saudi families.

Her Excellency the Minister of Cities, Urban Planning and Housing of Djibouti, Ms. Amina Abdi, expressed her pride in the deep and close relations that bind the two countries and the two brotherly peoples and the continuous development they are witnessing, expressing her admiration for the progress that the Kingdom is witnessing in the field of housing, noting the importance of the meeting in strengthening joint cooperation by benefiting from the successful Saudi experiences in the housing sector, such as: the “Sakani” and “Developmental Housing” programs.

The meeting also addressed the Ministry’s efforts in the housing sector to enhance market balance by enabling demand, increasing supply, developing related systems and legislation, and facilitating access for more than one million Saudi families through easy and convenient electronic procedures, with the aim of reaching a rate of home ownership for Saudi families of 70% by 2030.
