The municipalities and housing system achieved more than 3 million volunteer hours during the first half of 2026, with the participation of more than 179,000 male and female volunteers, through more than 6,700 volunteer opportunities implemented through the secretariats, municipalities and housing authorities, with the participation of non-profit associations and institutions, within the municipal and housing volunteering tracks .
Volunteer opportunities were distributed across a number of tracks related to the work of the municipal and housing sectors, including support for housing services, parks and public facilities, serving pilgrims, environmental safety, as well as roads and basic infrastructure .
The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing oversees the volunteer work system in the municipal and housing sectors, through developing frameworks and pathways, empowering affiliated and partner entities, monitoring performance and measuring impact; while the secretariats, municipalities, housing authorities, associations and non-profit institutions design opportunities, implement initiatives and manage volunteer participation in the field .
The municipalities and housing system recorded the participation of more than 300,000 male and female volunteers during the year 2025, within tracks that included housing, improving the urban landscape, monitoring and surveillance, preserving blessings, honoring the dead, and comprehensive volunteering .
The ministry affirmed its continued oversight of the development of the volunteer work system, empowering its entities and partners, and enhancing integration with the non-profit sector, in order to expand the scope of volunteer opportunities, raise the quality of initiatives, and maximize their societal and developmental impact .
