The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing is intensifying its efforts to enhance compliance levels in vacant lands and reduce visual pollution, calling on landowners to take advantage of the corrective grace period extending until 15/4/1448 AH, as part of its ongoing efforts to improve the urban landscape and enhance the quality of the built environment in the cities and governorates of the Kingdom.
The ministry explained that the current phase focuses on strengthening compliance with municipal requirements and regulations governing vacant land, and addressing violations that affect the general appearance of cities, most notably the accumulation of construction waste and excavation debris or the exploitation of land in irregular ways.
She affirmed that the secretariats and municipalities continue their field monitoring and oversight work on vacant lands in various regions, which contributes to raising the level of compliance, reducing violations, and improving the quality of the urban environment.
The ministry added that compliance in vacant lands contributes to reducing visual pollution, raising the efficiency of the urban landscape, and improving the quality of life in cities and governorates, which positively impacts the urban environment and the attractiveness of cities to residents, visitors, and investors.
The owners of vacant land were urged to take the initiative to address the status of their land and comply with the approved municipal requirements before the end of the corrective period, in order to avoid the legal procedures resulting from violations.
The ministry indicated that the secretariats and municipalities continue to implement programs and initiatives to improve the urban landscape in various regions of the Kingdom, which contributes to the development of public facilities, roads and urban spaces, and supports the goals of quality of life and sustainable urban development.
