The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing stressed the importance of workers in food and public health activities obtaining health certificates, as they play an important role in promoting and protecting public health, raising the level of compliance with health and municipal requirements, and contributing to consumer protection and reducing health risks associated with practicing service and food activities.
The ministry explained that the health certificate is one of the basic requirements for workers in food establishments or those related to public health, and includes a number of activities and professions, including restaurants, cafes, bakeries, and food stores, in addition to barbershops, women's beauty salons, laundries, and relaxation and body care centers.
She explained that the health certificate is issued electronically through the "Baladi" platform and application, by submitting the application by the worker or the establishment representative, then completing the procedures for verifying the profession, the shop license and the license activity according to the approved procedures.
She added that obtaining the health certificate requires the worker to undergo a medical examination at accredited health authorities to ensure his health and freedom from infectious diseases before practicing work, in addition to passing the health education test in the cities where the program is implemented according to the list of approved professions, and then the health certificate is issued and printed electronically.
The ministry indicated that health education programs aim to raise health awareness among workers and promote self-monitoring and sound health practices in work environments related to food and public health, which contributes to strengthening prevention and reducing practices that may affect the health and safety of beneficiaries.
The ministry stated that the validity period of the health certificate is one year from the date of its issuance, and it can be renewed before its expiry date by (60) days, calling on workers and owners of establishments to take advantage of the digital services available through the “Baladi” platform and application to complete the procedures for issuing and renewing health certificates with ease and convenience, in order to enhance compliance with the approved health and municipal requirements.
