The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing confirmed the availability of the service for renewing commercial licenses electronically through the "Baladi" platform, as part of its ongoing efforts to develop digital municipal services, raise the quality of services provided to beneficiaries, and enhance the business environment, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 in digital transformation.
The official spokesperson for the Ministry, Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Rasasmeh, explained that the commercial license renewal service enables business owners to complete all renewal procedures electronically, by accessing the “Baladi” platform through the unified national access (Absher), selecting the commercial license renewal service, completing the application and paying the fees, without the need to visit the municipalities’ premises.
He explained that among the most important requirements for renewing the license is the existence of proof of the right to benefit from the site, whether by a valid lease contract registered on the “Ejar” platform, or a title deed, or an investment contract, in addition to fulfilling the requirements of the “Salama” platform of the Civil Defense according to the nature of the activity, noting the possibility of renewing the license before its expiry by up to (90) days, in addition to the possibility of renewing expired licenses according to the regulations governing this.
Al-Rasasmeh pointed out that the absence of commercial license data when submitting a renewal request may be related to the identity registered on the license or commercial register, stressing the importance of verifying data through the electronic inquiry services on the "Baladi" platform, and the necessity of the commercial register being valid to complete the renewal procedures, as the service cannot be implemented if the register has expired until it is renewed.
He added that the “Baladi” platform also provides a service for canceling commercial licenses electronically in case of cessation of activity or lack of desire to continue practicing it, through easy electronic steps that include selecting the license to be canceled, completing the application data, and paying any outstanding fees, if any.
He stressed that the “Baladi” platform is one of the most prominent digital enablers for the municipal sector, as it provides an integrated package of municipal services electronically, which contributes to facilitating procedures, raising the efficiency of services, improving the beneficiary experience, enhancing transparency, and supporting digital transformation in the municipal sector.
The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing called on owners of commercial establishments to take advantage of the electronic services provided by the “Baladi” platform, and to be sure to renew commercial licenses before their expiry, and to review the regulatory requirements and conditions; to ensure the continuity of commercial activities and to benefit from municipal services with ease and convenience .
