The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has intensified its monitoring efforts on food establishments in various regions of the Kingdom, through the municipalities and secretariats and in coordination with relevant authorities, to enhance food safety and reduce cases of food poisoning.

The ministry explained that the percentage of regulatory coverage of food establishments reached 97 percent during the first half of 2026, with the secretariats and municipalities continuing to expand the scope of field tours and increase their pace during the coming period in order to complete the regulatory coverage, enhance compliance with health requirements, and protect consumer health.

She confirmed that the municipalities and secretariats are conducting field inspection tours of restaurants, kitchens and food outlets to verify compliance with health requirements and regulations governing food activities, monitor violations, and take regulatory measures against non-compliant establishments, in order to preserve public health and improve the quality of services provided.

The ministry indicated that continuous coordination between secretariats, municipalities and partner entities enhances the efficiency of the food safety system and raises the level of readiness and response to observations and violations related to food activities.

She called on members of the community to report food establishments that do not comply with health requirements through the unified number (940) or the “Baladi” platform, stressing that community participation supports field monitoring work and helps in quickly monitoring and addressing observations.
