The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing revealed that more than 12,000 families benefited from the housing rent support program during the first half of 2026, as part of the housing solutions directed to eligible families, aimed at supporting them when they are unable to pay rent due to circumstances beyond their control, and supporting their housing stability.
The ministry explained that the program provides support to eligible cases after an enforcement ruling is issued against the beneficiary. The case is automatically referred from the enforcement court through electronic integration with relevant authorities, so that the central committee can study the case, determine the appropriate type of support, and complete the payment procedures within a period not exceeding 30 days from the date of its referral from the enforcement judiciary.
She explained that benefiting from the program requires the existence of a documented residential lease agreement on the electronic rental services network “ Ejar ” as an executive document, in addition to the application of the eligibility conditions to the referred case, in order to ensure that the support reaches those who deserve it in accordance with the approved procedures and controls.
She added that the program includes citizens who are unable to pay rent within the cases specified by the Cabinet’s decision, which are: (the family of the deceased, the prisoner, the sick, and those with weak financial ability), provided that each case is subject to study by the competent committee before approving the support.
It is worth mentioning that the housing rent support program was issued pursuant to Cabinet Resolution No. (405), and it comes within the system of developmental housing programs directed to eligible families, to provide housing solutions that contribute to enhancing family stability and social protection.
