Ministry of Municipal Rural Affairs and Housing, represented by the Ministry's Agency for Projects and Public Health, in collaboration with the General Administration for Community Participation, organizes the Fourth Forum for General Managers of Sanitation. The Forum will be hosted by the Asir Municipality on August 29th and 30th and will include the participation of the National Center for Waste Management, Sark Company, and the National Center for Environmental Compliance, in addition to municipalities from various provinces in the Kingdom and several officials from private sector companies operating in the field of sanitation.
The Forum aims to address inappropriate behaviors and negative practices related to urban sanitation, with an ultimate goal of developing a waste management system and controlling waste generation. It also aims to promote circular economy principles and enhance the efficiency and development of waste management companies. Additionally, the forum seeks to ensure proper waste disposal in accordance with international standards and regulations.
The Forum includes 8 working papers presented by participating entities from both the government and private sectors. These papers aim to exchange experiences and knowledge in the field of waste management and disposal, raise awareness about the importance of public sanitation, and achieve urban sustainability. The papers also focus on discussing the obstacles facing sanitation services, finding solutions to overcome them, highlighting best practices to enhance sanitation levels, maintaining sustainability and creating investment opportunities in this field.
The Ministry's Agency for Projects and Public Health, through organizing these forums, seeks to establish a database specifically related to waste management. It aims to encourage the private sector and investors to work in various waste management fields, create a significant economic market in this sector, achieve environmental and financial sustainability, preserve public properties and facilities, and address visual distortions; thus contributing to achieving high-quality levels and improving the services provided in cities for the beneficiaries. This aligns with the objectives of the Quality of Life program, one of the programs of Vision 2030.
