Public squares, parks, and municipal waterfronts prepared by regional municipalities and their affiliated municipalities across the Kingdom witnessed widespread public engagement with the launch of the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing’s “Our Cities Cheer for Our National Team” initiative. The initiative enabled fans to watch the match between the Saudi national team and Uruguay as part of the 2026 FIFA World Cup at fully equipped public viewing sites.
The viewing sites were filled with families, young people, children, and visitors who gathered to support the Green Falcons and share moments of excitement and cheering in a distinctive patriotic atmosphere. The scenes reflected the strong support for the Saudi national team, as well as the sense of pride and belonging shared by citizens and residents across the Kingdom.
The initiative forms part of the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing’s efforts to activate public squares, parks, and waterfronts as vibrant community destinations by allocating and equipping public viewing sites across the Kingdom’s regions, cities, and governorates. This enables residents to follow the national team’s matches close to their homes while enjoying the tournament atmosphere in safe and welcoming environments.
The public viewing sites designated by municipalities across the Kingdom will remain available throughout the Saudi national team’s participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, allowing fans to follow the Green Falcons’ matches in a distinctive patriotic atmosphere that reflects the spirit of excitement and support and brings members of the community together in a shared experience of backing the national team.
The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing explained that the “Our Cities Cheer for Our National Team” initiative aims to strengthen community participation in supporting the Green Falcons by activating public squares, parks, and waterfronts as community destinations that host national events. The initiative also contributes to enriching the experiences of residents and visitors and maximizing the use of public facilities across the Kingdom’s cities and governorates.
Municipalities and regional authorities are continuing to implement their operational and service plans at the public viewing sites to ensure a comfortable and safe experience for visitors, while strengthening the role of public facilities as community spaces that bring residents together and accommodate various national occasions and events.
The “Our Cities Cheer for Our National Team” initiative represents an extension of the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing’s efforts to enhance quality of life and activate public destinations and municipal squares as centers for community engagement.
