The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, represented by the Internal Audit and Control Agency, launched an initiative to establish an internal control system and governance of audit departments in the municipalities, in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry for Internal Audit and Control, Muhammad bin Abdulaziz Al-Saeed.

This initiative comes as part of a series of workshops organized by the Ministry within an integrated plan to enhance and support internal audit departments in regional secretariats with elements, mechanisms, models and procedures in accordance with best practices in internal auditing. The Internal Audit and Control Agency recently launched the Internal Audit Charter for Secretariats, based on government regulations and the Charter of Internal Audit Updates followed by the International Institute of Internal Auditors.

For his part, the Undersecretary of the Ministry for Internal Audit and Control, Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Saeed, affirmed, during the launch of the workshops with the participation of the directors of internal audit in the secretariats, that this initiative represents the beginning of a new phase of cooperative work to raise the levels of performance in the internal audit departments and exchange experiences in all the secretariats of the regions.

The workshops witnessed interaction from the directors general of internal audit in the secretariats through the presentation and discussion of experiences and success stories, stressing the need to continue to keep up with and implement the latest developments related to the development of the internal audit profession.
