The Minister of Municipality and Housing launches the "Compliance Makers" forum and announces awards for outstanding inspectors.

 

His Excellency the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, Mr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail, launched the first edition of the Compliance Makers Forum, which was hosted by the Hail Region Municipality during the period from March 2-3, 2022, to develop municipal control operations and perform their role with high accuracy and efficiency, and to improve the quality of services provided in accordance with the strategic objectives of the municipal sector, in the presence of the General Supervisor of the Licensing and Compliance Agency at the Ministry, Dr. Hamad Al-Fawzan, the Director General of the General Department of Compliance at the Ministry, Dr. Khalid Kurdi, and the Secretary of Hail Region, Engineer Sultan Al-Zaidi.

In his speech delivered via video link, His Excellency announced awards for distinguished inspectors in the regional secretariats, which will be for 17 inspectors across all supervisory tracks, with one inspector from each secretariat receiving the “Distinguished Inspector Award.” He emphasized the need to pay attention to the quality of life for citizens, residents, and visitors, which will positively impact their well-being, and stressed the importance of improving supervisory work and developing and continuously improving supervisory legislation and regulations.

For his part, the General Supervisor of the Licensing and Compliance Agency at the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing explained that the Compliance Makers initiative aims to showcase developments in oversight, ensure fair competition, monitor inspection lists, and leave no room for interpretation.

Al-Fawzan added: “Today, more than 100 monitors and specialists are meeting to discuss the most prominent challenges in monitoring and to come up with creative ideas and solutions to develop the work of the system, looking forward to diligent work in monitoring and compliance to achieve the goals.”

For his part, the Secretary of the Hail Region said that the Compliance Makers Forum is the first of its kind at the level of the municipal sector, which brings together a select group of distinguished inspectors from all disciplines in the secretariats and municipalities of the Kingdom with the support of His Excellency the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, indicating that the forum aims to continue developing municipal control operations in all their paths at the level of the secretariats and finding solutions to the challenges facing each path, and highlighting the speed of the municipalities’ response to all reports, in addition to strengthening the municipality’s supervisory roles at the level of guidance, performance and commitment, with the participation of a number of distinguished inspectors at the level of the secretariats.

Al-Zaidi added: The forum brings together a number of observers and specialists in all areas of oversight, which include (oversight of commercial establishments, visual pollution, comprehensive housing oversight, environmental oversight, oversight of revenues, buildings, cleanliness, encroachments and lands, street vendors, excavations, and oversight of facilities and neighborhoods), with the participation of 17 municipalities across the Kingdom. It will discuss the most prominent oversight challenges and come up with creative ideas and solutions through (11) workshops that discuss challenges at the level of oversight tracks (strategic, legislative, procedural and technical, community participation, and awareness), and develop solutions to overcome them.

The Director General of the General Administration for Compliance at the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing gave a visual presentation introducing the Compliance Makers initiative and its objectives, stressing that the idea of Compliance Makers was born from the system of regulatory work that we experience in the secretariats and municipalities, which is based on two important pillars: (the enablers of regulation and the targets of regulation).
