The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing made remarkable progress in developing the municipal sector and improving the quality of municipal services during the year 2024, as part of its ongoing efforts to create an integrated urban environment that supports the well-being of citizens and contributes to improving the level of services in Saudi cities, and in a way that contributes to achieving the goals of sustainable urban development in accordance with Saudi Vision 2030.In a press statement issued today, the Ministry revealed that more than 276,000 building permits were issued through the Baladi application during the year 2024, with a growth rate of 80% compared to last year. The total number of commercial permits issued exceeded 130,000, with a growth rate exceeding 149%. The number of health certificates issued during the same year exceeded 811,000, with a growth rate of 45%, while the total number of building compliance certificates reached approximately 100,000 certificates in various regions of the Kingdom.The ministry noted the continuation of efforts to humanize cities and improve the urban landscape to enhance the well-being of living in the Kingdom, as the second phase of the Bahja project was launched, which included the establishment and implementation of 357 parks and urban interventions in neighborhoods and residential communities in various regions, with the aim of providing large green spaces for recreational activities and raising the per capita share of green spaces, which contributed to increasing residents’ access to parks within a range of 800 meters to reach 58%.In the field of digital solutions and smart municipalities, the Ministry employed modern technology and artificial intelligence techniques in many municipal services, especially in addressing visual distortions and improving the urban landscape, where nearly 14 million images were captured through“My City Lens” , in addition to processing more than 1.2 million reports of visual distortions through the municipalities in various regions of the Kingdom, and 500,000 people benefited from “My City Lifestyle”services during the year 2024. The ministry noted that the infrastructure in the cities and governorates of the Kingdom has witnessed tangible development in terms of improving the quality of roads, developing the waste management system, and draining rainwater and floods. Infrastructure development projects have resulted in raising the road quality index in the Kingdom to 65%. Eight strategic plans for draining rainwater and floods have also been implemented, and more than 80 landfills have been closed and converted into engineered landfills.As part of its regulatory and supervisory role, the Ministry issued and updated 44 guides to requirements during the year 2024, to improve the quality of municipal services, raise their efficiency, and provide a quality experience for beneficiaries, which contributes to raising the level of quality of life in the cities and governorates of the Kingdom. The Ministry’s supervisory teams at the level of the municipalities conducted more than 5.1 million supervisory tours in various regions of the Kingdom, with a growth rate of more than 100% compared to the year 2023.The Ministry continued its efforts to attract investors and enhance investment opportunities in the municipal sector through its projects and initiatives aimed at increasing the attractiveness of the investment environment, as the volume of investment opportunities offered during the year 2024 through the“Opportunities” platform amounted to more than 14,000 investment opportunities with a total value exceeding 4 billion riyals.
