The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has launched a new package of model guiding contracts through the "Baladi Business" platform, which aims to facilitate contracting procedures and clarify the rights and obligations of all parties, which contributes to reducing legal disputes and maintaining good relations between stakeholders, thus ensuring the implementation of projects without delay or breach and agreeing upon them under those contracts.The new package - which includes 26 guiding models - comes as part of the model contracts initiative made available by the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing through the website of both the Saudi Council of Engineers and the Saudi Contractors Authority, as part of its efforts to improve the level of projects and raise the quality of municipal and housing services provided to beneficiaries and automate them in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.The initiative included a benchmarking comparison of the most internationally recognized contracts, which have been in use for nearly 100 years in the contracting field, with continuous updates according to the evolving needs of the market. These contracts were studied and the best practices and standards were identified, leading to the unification, "modeling," and launch of guiding contracts for municipal services provided on the Baladi Business platform, in accordance with the FIDIC global contract models.It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing organized a number of workshops with the relevant secretariats and agencies and the private sector, represented by the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, to harmonize and share their views and observations on these contracts.
