His Excellency Majed bin Abdullah Al-Hogail, Minister of Municipalities and Housing, extended his gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister—may Allah protect them—on the occasion of the Council of Ministers’ approval at its session today to amend the Housing Support Regulation.

His Excellency explained that this gracious approval reflects the continued support and attention of the leadership—may Allah protect them—toward the housing sector and their commitment to enabling citizens to own their first home with ease and flexibility by offering a range of diverse solutions and options that cater to various needs.

The amendments include lowering the minimum age of eligibility for housing support for heads of households from 25 to 20 years, and removing the requirement for a wife or divorced mother to provide support, thereby granting equal opportunities for all citizens, regardless of gender. Additionally, the amendments authorize the relevant authority to review the eligibility period for divorced women for housing support, in coordination with relevant entities.

The amendments also reduce the lock-in period for housing support options from 10 years to 5 years, enhancing the flexibility of utilizing housing solutions and options in line with beneficiaries’ social and economic changes. To ensure transparency, the amendments also tighten regulatory measures regarding the accuracy of submitted data, allowing for the recovery of housing support funds, housing units, or land in the event of incorrect information.

The amendment of the Housing Support Regulation is part of the ongoing efforts by Sakani Program to provide a variety of housing options and solutions that align with the needs of Saudi families. It offers flexible and diverse solutions for beneficiaries, supporting efforts to enhance housing support, diversify financing and housing options, and accelerate homeownership among Saudi families.

Beneficiaries meeting the eligibility criteria will be able to apply for and benefit from the amendments to the Housing Support Regulation once the necessary procedures and systems are finalized, with further details to be announced in due course.
