"Sakani": Amending the eligibility period for housing support for divorced mothers to one year

Monday 08 June 2026

The “Sakani” program announced an amendment to the executive regulations for organizing housing support, so that the period specified for a divorced mother to be entitled to housing support becomes only one year from the date of the divorce, instead of the two-year condition that was previously in effect.

The program explained that this amendment aims to provide more flexible and faster housing solutions, and to enable citizens to obtain housing support in a way that enhances family and social stability, and contributes to owning the first home easily and conveniently.

This decision comes as a complement to Cabinet Resolution No. 850 dated 11/29/1446 AH, which included several amendments to the regulations for housing support, including reducing the age of eligibility for the head of the family to (20) years, and canceling the condition of dependency on the wife or mother, in addition to referring the determination of the period of eligibility of the divorced woman to the executive regulations.

“Sakani” confirmed that these updates are in line with the objectives of the Housing Program - one of the Saudi Vision 2030 programs - which aims to raise the percentage of Saudi families owning homes to 70% by 2030, and to enhance the quality of life by providing a safe and stable residential environment.

The program invited interested parties to review the executive regulations for organizing housing support, published on the ministry's website via the following link: https://momah.gov.sa/sites/default/files/2025-09/allayht%20altnfydhyt%20ltnzym%20ald%60m%20alskny%20l%60am%201447h.pdf .
