The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing signed a joint cooperation memorandum with the Saudi Sign Language Interpreters Association, as part of the activities of the "Cityscape Global 2025" exhibition, which is being hosted by the city of Riyadh during the period from November 17 to 20, with broad local and international participation in the real estate and housing development sector. .

The memorandum aims to strengthen the partnership between the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing and the Sign Language Interpreters Association in the areas of training, rehabilitation and employment for people with hearing disabilities, and to develop municipal and housing services provided to this valued segment of society, in a way that contributes to empowering them, integrating them into the labor market and improving their quality of life, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030. .

The memorandum includes the implementation of short and medium-term training programs for the deaf and hard of hearing to develop their professional and administrative skills, in addition to organizing sign language training courses for the ministry's staff and its affiliated bodies to improve communication with beneficiaries with hearing disabilities. .

The memorandum also includes cooperation in creating a comprehensive sign language dictionary that includes the most commonly used municipal and housing terms, implementing awareness campaigns and videos in sign language to explain municipal services and regulatory guidelines, in addition to studying the employment of deaf people in the ministry's initiatives and sectors within social responsibility programs. .

Through the memorandum, both parties are working to activate community partnership in facilitating access for people with hearing disabilities to the ministry's digital services, by adapting applications and electronic platforms to include sign language interpretation, and providing visual interpretation services in the ministry's unified call centers and beneficiary service centers. .

The signing of this memorandum comes as an extension of the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing’s efforts to promote the principle of inclusivity and achieve justice in providing services to all segments of society, and to consolidate the values of empowerment and citizenship, which contributes to building more humane and inclusive cities that support community participation and stimulate social responsibility in urban development in the Kingdom.
