The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing signed a memorandum of understanding with the Gulf Laboratory for Technical Services Company, as part of the activities of the "Cityscape Global 2025" exhibition held in Riyadh, with the aim of enhancing joint cooperation in developing the municipal laboratory system and raising its technical and operational efficiency, in order to improve the quality of services and support the Ministry’s objectives in developing the urban environment.
The memorandum aims to support the laboratories affiliated with the ministry and secretariats and raise their operational efficiency, through developing testing and inspection mechanisms, evaluating technical performance, and submitting development proposals that contribute to improving quality and raising operational efficiency, in addition to preparing the laboratories to obtain technical accreditation according to international standards such asISO/IEC 17025andISO/IEC 17020.
The memorandum also includes cooperation in providing technical and engineering services, supporting inspection and testing operations for municipal and infrastructure projects, in addition to strengthening aspects of inspection related to the regulations on penalties for municipal violations, and providing qualification and consulting services related to quality management certificates.
The memorandum of understanding also works to support the ministry’s efforts to raise the level of technical standards within municipal laboratories, exchange experiences between the two sides, and enable laboratories to adopt advanced operational practices that ensure the sustainability of service quality and improve the reliability of results, which will reflect on the efficiency of urban development projects and the quality of life in Saudi cities.
The signing of this memorandum comes as part of the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing’s keenness to strengthen its partnerships with the private sector, activate the applied innovation system in municipal services, and support initiatives to develop and raise the efficiency of assets and technical services in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
