The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing launched the second phase of the "Building Compliance Certificate" initiative, as part of its ongoing efforts to improve the quality of the urban landscape in the Kingdom's cities, and to regulate the urban environment according to clear standards that contribute to reducing visual pollution and achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 in improving the quality of life and promoting compliance with urban regulations.
The ministry explained in a press statement that the second phase includes a package of executive measures that include identifying the new targeted buildings and linking them to the geographic explorer, and granting building owners a corrective period of six months from the date of issuance of the decision, to meet the requirements for obtaining the compliance certificate, which is issued free of charge and according to easy requirements that include specific road axes.
She indicated that the results of the first phase of the initiative reflected a tangible positive impact on compliance levels and improving the overall appearance of buildings, with 95,835 buildings targeted for certification of compliance, achieving a completion rate of94% of the target, while the number of applications submitted for issuing the certificate exceeded 102,708, indicating that more than138A thousand inspection visits to monitor compliance with the approved requirements and standards.
The ministry added that the building compliance certificate is an effective regulatory tool that contributes to raising the quality of implementation, enhancing the reliability of projects, unifying control procedures between secretariats, and raising the level of institutional coordination, stressing that the necessary procedures will be applied to non-compliant buildings after the end of the corrective period, noting that the certificate is valid for three years.
The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing affirmed that the Building Compliance Certificate initiative constitutes one of the pillars supporting sustainable urban maturity, and contributes to building an organized and safe urban environment that reflects the urban identity of the Kingdom, calling on building owners and investors to interact and commit to the requirements of the certificate, in order to enhance the quality of the urban landscape and keep pace with the aspirations of comprehensive development.
