The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing is preparing Mina within hours in anticipation of the return of pilgrims from Arafat.

The field teams of the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, represented by the Holy Capital Municipality, began the preparation and environmental sanitation work in Mina immediately after the pilgrims headed to Arafat, as part of its operational plan for the Hajj season of 1447 AH, in order to ensure the readiness of Mina to receive the pilgrims after their departure.
The ministry explained that the field teams were able to fully rehabilitate the Mina area from an early date, by intensifying waste removal and environmental sanitation operations, and supporting the sites with additional teams equipped with suction pumps, tanks and field vehicles working around the clock to deal with various emergency situations, including rain, fires and others.
She explained that the Holy Capital Municipality has mobilized more than 13,000 workers to work in Makkah and the Holy Sites, supported by all the necessary equipment and machinery, to maintain a high level of environmental sanitation and field services throughout the Hajj season.
She added that the waste management system in the holy sites operates according to an integrated operational plan, whereby waste is transported to transfer stations spread around the holy sites, and it is stored after the Day of Arafah through a system that includes more than 1,230 compactor boxes with a capacity of 8 tons per box, in addition to more than 110 ground storage facilities with a total capacity of about 2,825 tons.
The ministry confirmed the provision of approximately 88,000 waste collection units distributed in the holy sites, in support of raising the efficiency of waste collection and preserving the general environment, which contributes to providing the best services to the pilgrims.
