His Excellency the Deputy Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, Engineer Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Budair, chaired today the twenty-second meeting of the Committee of Their Highnesses, Excellencies and Highnesses, Senior Housing Officials of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, in the capital, Riyadh.
The meeting discussed housing efforts in response to the repercussions of the Coronavirus pandemic, the joint housing action strategy for the GCC countries, housing information databases, the GCC Housing Award, the unified system for property owners, the Gulf Housing Week, and the General Secretariat’s proposal regarding the exchange of experiences, expertise and information, in addition to coordinating efforts to highlight Gulf housing work in regional and international forums.
The committee was briefed on the General Secretariat’s memorandum on the joint housing action strategy, and on the efforts made by the technical committee in cooperation with the General Secretariat to implement the initiatives and projects included in the 2022 housing strategy.
The committee recommended approving the “Guide to Monitoring the Real Estate Sector in the GCC Countries,” the “Guide to the List of Developed Technical Standards for Planning, Design and Building Systems,” and the “Guide to Using the Latest Planning Methods and Applications in the Field of Housing” as guiding documents, and tasking the General Secretariat with submitting them to the Ministerial Council for approval, while authorizing the competent ministerial committee to update them whenever the need arises.
The recommendations are scheduled to be submitted to Their Highnesses, Excellencies, and Highnesses the Ministers concerned with housing affairs in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, for their adoption during the 20th meeting of the GCC Ministers concerned with housing affairs, chaired by His Excellency the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, Mr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail, tomorrow, Wednesday.
