His Excellency the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, Mr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail, participated in the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Authority for the Care of Persons with Disabilities, chaired by His Excellency the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Authority for the Care of Persons with Disabilities, Engineer Ahmed bin Suleiman Al-Rajhi, via video conference.
The meeting discussed a number of topics, most notably measuring the compliance of governmental and private entities with the application of the simplified guide standards for comprehensive access, which was prepared by the Authority for the Care of Persons with Disabilities in cooperation with the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, reviewing the efforts made in the Comprehensive Access Committee through training employees of governmental sectors on the guide, and discussing the deadline granted for implementing the decision.
The meeting also discussed activating the role of developmental housing and enabling people with disabilities to benefit from the program through their associations, and enhancing the level of coordination in order to enable people with disabilities to participate fully and effectively in society.
It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, in cooperation with the Authority for the Care of Persons with Disabilities, had previously issued a number of decisions, including the application of the standards of the Comprehensive Accessibility Guide and the possibility of reporting violators through the “Baladi” application or by calling the number (940), as well as the decision to place ramps inside commercial shops and public places, and to impose violations on those who do not implement the decision.
The Authority for the Care of Persons with Disabilities aims to ensure that persons with disabilities obtain their rights and to achieve the Kingdom’s vision of ensuring the integration of persons with disabilities into society to create an inclusive and inclusive society.
