Al-Hogail Partakes in 'Urban October – The First Gulf Housing Week' Conference in Oman

His Excellency, Minister of Municipal Rural Affairs and Housing, Mr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail, participated today in the ministerial session of the Housing Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The session took place within the sessions of 'Urban October – The First Gulf Housing Week' Conference, hosted by the Omani capital, Muscat, under the theme of "Resilience of the Urban Economy," from October 29th to 31st.

The session was attended by His Excellency the Secretary General of the GCC, Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Bedaiwi, His Excellency the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the United Arab Emirates, Suhail bin Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Her Excellency the Minister of Housing and Urban Planning of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amna bint Ahmed Al-Rumaihi, His Excellency the Minister of Housing and Urban Planning of the Sultanate of Oman, Dr. Khalfan bin Said Al-Shuaili, and the Minister of Social Development and Family of Qatar, Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad, as well as the Acting Director General of Public Authority for Housing welfare in Kuwait, Rashid Hadi Al-Anzi.

During his speech at the ministerial session, Al-Hogail emphasized that the Housing Program, one of the programs of Vision 2030, has succeeded in restructuring and organizing the sector comprehensively. This was achieved through a set of policies that included financing, housing support, increasing the supply of housing products, and developing services, systems, and legislation. He pointed out that the program has achieved numerous accomplishments that have had a positive impact on the sector as a whole, and it has achieved its targets of increasing homeownership rates for Saudi families.

The ministerial session also witnessed the honoring of several private sector institutions, charitable associations, and philanthropists who contributed to supporting housing projects in the GCC countries. The Development Housing Foundation "Sakan" was honored for its contribution of 1.5 billion Saudi riyals to the "Joud Platform" for providing housing solutions to the neediest families. Mr. Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Othaim was honored for his contribution of 100 million Saudi riyals as the largest donor to the "Joud Platform."

During the visit, Al- Hogail met with His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister for Cabinet Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, His Highness Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said. He expressed his satisfaction with the joint efforts between Saudi Arabia, Oman, and the GCC countries to enhance the housing system and promote the significant urban development witnessed by the GCC countries. They also discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the fields of economy, housing, urban development, and city planning.

It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Municipal Rural Affairs and Housing presented successful experiences of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in various urban sectors during the conference sessions. These included urban renewal and its impact on economic activities, the role of developmental housing associations in providing housing for citizens, and developmental housing projects, as well as the experience of the National Urban Observatory in enabling sustainable urban development and activating partnerships with the private sector in housing projects.
