The activities of the conference to support and empower internal audit departments in the municipal and housing sectors were launched this morning in Riyadh. The conference coincides with the International Internal Audit Awareness Month and is held under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Municipal Rural Affairs and Housing, Mr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail. The event was attended by His Excellency the President of the General Auditing Bureau, Dr. Hossam bin Abdulmohsen Al-Anqari, and a number of officials from regulatory authorities.
The opening ceremony featured a speech by His Excellency the Minister of Municipal Rural Affairs and Housing, in which he emphasized the significant role of internal audit in enhancing the developments witnessed by the Kingdom and its importance in improving operational efficiency, enhancing performance, increasing transparency, and reducing corruption opportunities, in line with the goals of Vision 2030.
Al-Hogail affirmed that the Ministry of Municipal Rural Affairs and Housing has made great efforts to build a professional audit management that operates within institutional frameworks aligned with local and international standards. This includes automating and governing internal audit processes, establishing an internal control regulation at the system level, developing procedures through early detection of gaps and risks, and strengthening control systems by developing standards and implementing regulations issued by legislative and regulatory bodies.
The conference, which is attended by a selection of leaders and experts in the field of internal audit, discusses the latest trends in the areas of internal control and audit under the theme: "Towards an Established Internal Audit: Support and Empowerment of Internal Audit Departments in the Municipal and Housing Sectors." It addresses the most prominent developments and ideas for improving processes and achieving organizational excellence.
