Ministry of Municipality and Housing (MOMAH) and Soudah Development (SD) Hold Bilateral Meeting Aiming to Improve the Quality of Services in the Project Area

Ministry of Municipality and Housing and Soudah Development – one of the Public Investment Fund’s companies – held a bilateral meeting today at the Ministry’s headquarters in Riyadh. The meeting aimed to discuss and explore areas of cooperation that support the development and progress of Soudah Development Project and parts of Rijal Almaa, and to explore ways to benefit from the programs and services provided by the Ministry across the “municipal” and “housing” sectors.

The meeting was attended by Mayor of Aseer Region, Dr. Waleed bin Mohammed Al-Hamidi, the Head of Support Services Sector at the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, Mr. Yazid bin Ibrahim Al-Nafisa, who chaired the meeting, as well as several leaders from the Ministry, Soudah Development, and the Aseer Municipality.

The meeting began with a visual presentation introducing Soudah Development Project and the aspirations the company seeks to realize in the region. Discussions included the proposed partnership mechanism between the Ministry and the Company through electronic integration and data exchange. The meeting also addressed municipal services provided by the Ministry and a proposed program for the development of human capital for municipal staff in Soudah and Rijal Almaa to ensure optimal delivery of oversight services in the area.

An overview of the correction of visual distortion program was also presented, and discussions were held on establishing a joint working team to directly support Soudah Development projects and to provide full support in terms of license issuance and approval, design review, and technical consultancy. Joint programs to improve municipal services in the project area were also explored.

The meeting then reviewed the key services provided by the Ministry’s housing sector through the Deputy Ministry for Real Estate Development, including prominent housing programs and initiatives such as "Sustainable Building," "Mulk," "Ejar," "Unit Classification," and "Developmental Housing."

This meeting stems from the leadership’s vision to develop the Kingdom’s regions and tourist destinations, which led to the launch of Soudah Development Company with investments exceeding SAR 11 billion, of which more than SAR 3 billion has been allocated to infrastructure development. The project aims to develop 2,700 hotel rooms, 1,300 residential units, and 30 commercial and entertainment projects, contributing to the creation of more than 8,000 direct and indirect job opportunities, and establishing a global mountain tourism destination that attracts 2 million visitors annually by 2030.
