The “Support for those struggling to pay rent” program – which is supervised by the Developmental Housing and Community Participation Agency – revealed that it supported 36,783 enforcement orders during the holy month of Ramadan, for those who documented their contracts through the electronic rental services network “Ejar”, by paying the outstanding amounts automatically through the electronic services shared with the Ministry of Justice.

The program aims to provide social protection to struggling groups, as an extension of the efforts made under the umbrella of the Housing Program - one of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 programs - to provide diverse housing programs to the most needy families through easy electronic procedures.

The program explained in a press statement today that the defaulting cases are automatically referred from the Enforcement Court after the ruling is issued, to be presented to the central committee formed from representatives of (the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, the Ministry of Interior, and charitable associations) to determine the type of support and provide it within a period not exceeding 30 days from its referral from the Enforcement Court. The support comes in consideration of some exceptional cases of citizens who have defaulted on paying the rent for housing.

The program continues to provide support to ensure a decent life for all citizens by paying the rent for families unable to pay it who have been proven unable to pay and against whom an enforcement order has been issued.

It is worth mentioning that the “Support for those unable to pay rent” program was issued by Cabinet Resolution 405 to support citizens who are unable to pay rent due to circumstances beyond their control, within four specific cases covered: (the family of the deceased, the prisoner, the sick, and the financially weak), provided that the residential lease contract is documented within the Ejar network as an enforceable instrument, and that an enforcement decision is issued against the beneficiary by the judge, and it is referred through technical integration between the Ministries of Justice and “Municipality and Housing”, so that the type of support can be studied through the Support Committee.
