Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing commences official visit to China

Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing Majid Al-Hogail will begin today an official visit to Beijing to discuss ways to enhance relations between Saudi Arabia and China in the municipal and housing sectors, and to be acquainted with the Chinese companies’ experience in infrastructure, urban development, housing, real estate development and financing.

During his visit, which will end on August 16, Al-Hogail will oversee the Saudi-Chinese Forum, which is scheduled to kick off on Aug. 16. The forum will witness the attendance of a number of the Ministry's officials, in addition to Saudi investors, as well as representatives of Chinese companies, and businessmen. The Saudi-Chinese Forum will review investment opportunities and advantages that Saudi Arabia is providing in the fields of infrastructure and housing, in order to attract the best Chinese companies to invest in the Kingdom, as well as to strengthen the partnerships between the two countries.

Al-Hogail is expected to meet with heads of Chinese companies, including CITIC Group, CITIC Construction and China Insurance Company. He will also meet with heads of Chinese banks, such as the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, the Bank of China, the Export-Import Bank of China and the China Development Bank. The meetings will discuss ways to cooperate in infrastructure development and housing projects, and to explore financing models. Al-Hogail will also visit the exhibition of the development stages of Beijing to learn about the Chinese experience in the development and improvement of cities.

Al-Hogail was on an official visit to Turkey, which witnessed the launch of the Saudi-Turkish Business Forum in Istanbul. He also met with Turkish government officials, businessmen and investors, aiming to increase cooperation opportunities with Turkish companies in urban development, construction, real estate development, contracting and smart cities.
