His Excellency the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, Mr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail, launched today the PDMInfrastructure Projects Procedures Guidein the municipal sector, on the sidelines of the Infrastructure Projects Management Transformation Forum. His Excellency also opened the exhibition accompanying the forum and listened to an explanation of the services provided to beneficiaries.
During the ceremony, His Excellency emphasized that the infrastructure projects procedures guide is part of the Ministry’s steps to achieve the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, with the aim of developing infrastructure and bringing Saudi cities to global standards, by targeting the inclusion of at least three Saudi cities in the list of the top 100 cities to live in the world by 2030.
Al-Haqil added, “We seek to create sustainable success through strategic partnerships with the contracting sector and engineering offices, and to work with them to develop systems and procedures that raise the levels of competitiveness in quality and efficiency, which will positively impact life in Saudi cities.”
His Excellency the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing pointed out that, based on the belief in the importance of the services provided by the Ministry to beneficiaries, procedural and organizational guidelines have been approved to help specialists implement projects with the required quality in accordance with urban design requirements, according to correct practices in project management, in order to ensure the satisfaction of beneficiaries of those projects. He stressed that the municipal sector, represented by the Ministry and the Secretariats, and in partnership with the Saudi Council of Engineers and the Saudi Contractors Authority, is working on a set of initiatives aimed at supporting and developing the construction system.
His Excellency explained that the Ministry seeks to apply these procedures and standards to more than 6,800 infrastructure projects that will be implemented during the next 5 years, based on the guide that was launched according to best practices in the implementation of infrastructure projects, which will be a reference for contractors and designers to increase productivity, control quality and achieve transparency and clarity of the requirements of project owners according to the highest standards.
After that, His Excellency attended a dialogue session within the forum’s activities entitled: (The role of project management guides in achieving the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030), and also witnessed the signing of a number of memoranda of understanding and the honoring of the participants.
