The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing recorded 186,118 volunteer hours during the middle ten days of the holy month of Ramadan, with the participation of more than 15,000 male and female volunteers within the volunteer work system in the municipal and housing sector, through a number of field initiatives that contribute to supporting municipal services and enhancing community awareness of preserving public facilities.
The ministry explained that the volunteer efforts during this period focused on monitoring initiatives and urban landscape improvement initiatives, where volunteers participated in monitoring shops and monitoring visual distortions in roads and public facilities, and contributing to raising the level of compliance and improving the urban environment in cities, in support of the efforts of the secretariats to improve the quality of municipal services.
The volunteer initiatives also included the implementation of a number of field activities aimed at promoting community awareness and preserving public facilities, which benefited more than 45,000 people, in addition to participating in more than 6,000 monitoring tours, and removing more than 3,000 illegal stickers, which contributes to achieving a higher quality and more sustainable urban environment.
The ministry affirmed that volunteer work in the municipal and housing sector is one of the paths that support enhancing the quality of municipal services and raising community awareness of them, through organizing volunteer opportunities and measuring their impact, which contributes to spreading the culture of volunteer work and strengthening the partnership between government agencies and the community.
