The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing continues to implement a package of integrated initiatives to raise the level of traffic safety and improve the quality of roads, by addressing elements of visual distortion that affect the clarity of the urban landscape and the flow of traffic within cities, as part of its efforts to enhance the quality of life and build safer and more organized urban environments .

The initiatives focus on addressing the field elements that have proven to have a direct impact on the behavior of drivers and the safety of pedestrians. The municipalities and secretariats have begun implementing works that include painting the side barriers of sidewalks, rehabilitating road markings and raising their level of visibility, in addition to repairing potholes and damaged parts of roads, which contributes to enhancing the clarity of paths and improving the mobility experience .

The work also included reorganizing speed bumps and adjusting their locations according to approved national standards, rehabilitating dilapidated sidewalks, and treating the locations of concrete barriers in a way that reduces visual pollution and enhances traffic safety for drivers.

The efforts extend to addressing behaviors associated with the unregulated use of the road, by reducing unauthorized parking in vital lanes, and removing damaged vehicles from public sites because they cause obstacles that affect road reading and safe decision-making while driving .

The ministry affirms that improving the urban landscape is a fundamental pillar in raising the level of traffic safety, as the regularity and clarity of road elements contribute to reducing potential risks and enhancing confidence among road users. It notes that it is working in cooperation with secretariats and municipalities to integrate field efforts with community awareness, based on the fact that the urban landscape is a shared responsibility that requires active participation from the community .

In this context, the Ministry has provided direct channels for reporting observations related to road quality and visual distortions, through the “Baladi” platform and the reporting number 940, enabling members of society to contribute to monitoring and following up on observations, and to expedite their treatment according to organized procedures, as this integration between institutional efforts and community participation enhances the efficiency of response and raises the level of organization within cities.

These initiatives are part of an integrated program being developed by the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing to improve road infrastructure and enhance the urban landscape directly related to user safety, reflecting its commitment to building more livable cities and promoting the sustainability of the urban environment and the daily quality of life for residents.
