The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing announced that 51,072 Saudi families have moved into their first home since the beginning of 2026 until the end of May, as part of its ongoing efforts to enable Saudi families to own suitable housing and to provide diverse housing and financing solutions for eligible families in various regions of the Kingdom.
The ministry explained that the total number of families benefiting from housing support services during the same period reached 38,471 Saudi families, reflecting the continued pace of housing empowerment and accelerating ownership procedures through an integrated system of housing and financing programs and solutions.
She indicated that the total number of supported contracts for beneficiaries since the launch of the Sakani program in 2017 until the end of May 2026 amounted to 1,040,215 contracts for Saudi families in various regions of the Kingdom, in an indicator that reflects the cumulative impact of the program in enhancing homeownership opportunities and raising homeownership rates.
The ministry indicated that the Riyadh region accounted for the highest share of total supported contracts, followed by the Makkah region, then the Eastern region, and then Jazan, reflecting the widening scope of benefit from housing support programs and the growing demand for housing solutions in various regions of the Kingdom.
The ministry stressed that its goals are not limited to enabling Saudi families to own homes, but extend to developing integrated residential communities that provide quality of life and contribute to building vibrant and sustainable urban environments that meet the needs of residents and keep pace with their future aspirations, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
She added that the Sakani program continues to offer a diverse range of housing solutions and options, including ready-made housing units, units under construction within off-plan sales projects, as well as the self-build option and residential land, thus providing multiple options that suit the needs and different desires of Saudi families, and giving beneficiaries greater flexibility in choosing suitable housing.
The ministry explained that the housing projects implemented in partnership with real estate developers contribute to the development of integrated communities that combine housing, services, public facilities and open spaces, which enhances the quality of life, improves the housing experience and embodies the transformation towards vibrant communities that provide an integrated environment for Saudi families.
She emphasized that the integration between government agencies, the private sector, and financing entities has contributed to enhancing the housing supply, expanding ownership opportunities, and improving the efficiency of the ownership journey for beneficiaries, thereby supporting the sustainability of the housing sector and enhancing confidence in the solutions and options provided to Saudi families.
The ministry noted that these efforts contributed to raising the percentage of Saudi families owning homes to 66.24% by the end of 2025, in continuous progress towards the target of the housing program - one of the programs of Saudi Vision 2030 - which aims to reach an ownership rate of 70%.
The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing the housing supply and launching more housing projects and options in partnership with the private sector in various regions of the Kingdom, in order to meet the needs of Saudi families, achieve balance in the real estate market, and support the building of prosperous communities.
