The Ministry of Municipality and Housing organizes a workshop in the municipalities of the Holy Capital and Jeddah to enhance oversight and transparency.

The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, in cooperation with the Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha), organized a workshop entitled: “Strengthening the System of Oversight, Transparency and Disclosure” in both the Holy Capital and Jeddah Municipalities, as part of the Ministry’s efforts to combat corruption, raise awareness of its dangers, promote the values of integrity, and strengthen religious conscience and national belonging.

The Director General of Technical and Operational Auditing at the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, Engineer Khalid bin Ibrahim Al-Zahrani, presented a presentation that included the mechanism for implementing and enhancing oversight in projects, while the Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority presented a presentation on disclosure, transparency and conflict of interest.

The workshop, which was attended by a large number of employees, addressed the importance of controlling and promoting the values of oversight in projects, enhancing performance efficiency, transparency and clarity in daily procedures and transactions, and reviewing the relevant systems and regulations. The workshop also witnessed the presentation of many purposeful interventions and valuable observations that emphasized the need to join forces and unify efforts to combat and eliminate the scourge of corruption and spread the culture of integrity.

The workshop comes as an extension of the ongoing cooperation between the Ministry and Nazaha to combat corruption and raise awareness of its risks through the Integrity Protection, Transparency Enhancement and Strengthening of the Internal Control System Committee, whose executive committee is chaired by His Excellency the Undersecretary of the Ministry for Internal Audit and Control Regulations, Mr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Saeed. The Ministry and Nazaha aim to implement several similar workshops at the level of the affiliated secretariats and municipalities, within the framework of the Ministry’s endeavor to increase awareness of the risks of corruption and preserve public resources, national gains and assets.

It is worth mentioning that the Ministry, represented by the Internal Audit and Control Agency, is working to achieve advanced levels in the field of combating corruption, promoting transparency and integrity, reaching an advanced level of awareness of the effects of corruption on society, promoting sustainable local development and achieving progress, and dealing with the state’s efforts aimed at reducing and combating financial and administrative corruption, preserving national assets, achieving sustainable development and enhancing the quality of life.
