“MOMRAH”: Establishing and activating 474 parks and implementing 568 urban interventions within “Bahjah” Project until the end of the Q1 2024

The Ministry of Municipal Rural Affairs and Housing has announced the completion of the construction and activation of 474 parks and the implementation of 568 urban interventions, including streets and public spaces, as part of "Bahjah" project in various regions of the Kingdom. This has been done since the project's launch at the beginning of last year until the end of Q1 2024. This comes as part of the Ministry's efforts to enhance the quality of life in Saudi cities by developing parks and urban interventions in residential areas, and increasing the individual's share of public spaces.

In a press statement, MOMRAH clarified that during the first quarter of this year, the project, through the region's municipalities, completed the construction of 64 parks and 21 urban interventions, as part of ongoing efforts to achieve the project's targets of enabling residents to access parks within an 800-meter radius.

MOMRAH also mentioned that during the past year, the project completed 410 parks with a total area of 5.6 million square meters, and implemented 547 urban interventions in the same period with a total area exceeding 1 million square meters. This is part of the efforts to create a renewable and sustainable urban environment that promotes health and happiness, and provides residents with the opportunity to enjoy green spaces and open areas.

Through "Bahjah" project, the Ministry seeks to unify the efforts of the region's municipalities to contribute to improving the quality of life and enhancing the satisfaction of city residents and visitors. The project includes the construction and activation of parks and the development of urban sites according to the best design standards, aiming to enhance social cohesion and well-being and enable individuals to engage in various recreational, sports, and other activities.

It is worth mentioning that through the launch of "Bahjah" project, the Ministry aims to complete the construction of 7,000 parks and 1,500 urban interventions across the Kingdom's regions by 2030. It also aims to develop public spaces with cultural, social, sports, and recreational characteristics to maximize the utilization of open spaces by transforming them into active areas that focus on providing quality services to individuals and investors, contributing to making three Saudi cities among the top 100 ideal livable cities worldwide.
