MOMRAH mandates contractors and developers to fence construction sites

The Ministry of Municipal Rural Affairs and Housing has mandated construction license holders, contractors, and real estate developers to fence construction sites of residential and commercial buildings. This decision is part of their efforts to increase compliance with municipal regulations in construction areas within cities, in order to preserve the urban landscape, reduce visual pollution, and provide a healthy and sustainable urban environment.

MOMRAH has called on construction license holders, contractors, and real estate developers to implement all the requirements outlined in the Guide on Construction Site Fencing before the corrective period ending on October 15, 2023, as previously announced. The decision applies to newly constructed residential and commercial buildings, as well as existing buildings undergoing façade restoration.

MOMRAH emphasized that the implementation of the requirements stipulated in the guide contributes to organizing construction sites and licenses according to unified standards that improve the quality of the urban landscape and contribute to its sustainability. These measures aim to protect workers, pedestrians, and adjacent buildings from the effects of construction.

The Guide includes several technical and general requirements for temporary fencing of buildings located on residential and commercial roads. These include installing reflective directional and warning signs to protect pedestrians, road users, and workers, as well as avoiding digging the pavement or road to install fence posts and prohibiting the pouring of concrete directly on the pavement or road for the installation of temporary fences or using stone to anchor fence posts.

Addressing visual pollution in Saudi cities is a top priority for MOMRAH, aiming to promote awareness and civilized behavior among beneficiaries and investors regarding the importance of preserving the environment and protecting public facilities. This is achieved through a series of pillars aimed at enhancing visual attractiveness, along with laws and regulations and in line with improving the urban landscape.
