Over 17 million square meters of idle lands in Makkah have been invoiced, and 1.3 million square meters have entered into trading phase

The Idle Land Program has revealed that over 17 million square meters of land as part of the seventh cycle of the first phase in Makkah for the year 2023/2024 were invoiced. 84 "fee invoices" have been issued during the current month of October for 67 lands located within the declared urban area of the first phase in Makkah. These lands have the potential to provide around 31,000 real estate units if developed and rebuilt.

The Program further clarified in its statement today that six lands with a total area exceeding 1.3 million square meters have entered the market within the real estate supply. Additionally, two lands with a combined area exceeding 46,000 square meters have entered the development phase. These lands are part of the invoicing in the sixth and seventh cycles of the first phase in Makkah.

The Program has reinvited landowners to take advantage of the support mechanisms provided by the Ministry of Municipal Rural Affairs and Housing, such as Etmam Center and Agency for Stimulating Housing Supply and Real Estate Development, in order to accelerate the development of idle lands or to settle the fees within the specified period, to avoid violations that may reach up to 100% of the fee value. In addition, it points out that the assessment mechanism and the determination of the land value and the applicable fee can be accessed by visiting the website idlelands.housing.gov.sa.

It is worth mentioning that the Idle Lands Fees Program has issued more than 20,000 invoices in all cities of the Kingdom since the beginning of the fee implementation, covering both the first and second phases. Article 15 of the Implementing Regulations for Idle Lands Fees Law specifies that the collected amounts are to be used for the development of infrastructure projects for housing developments, the extension of public utilities to such projects, and provision of public services within them.
