Sheikh Isa bin Ali Award for Voluntary Work Honors Minister of Municipal Rural Affairs and Housing

The 13th edition of the “Sheikh Isa bin Ali Award for Voluntary Work” in Bahrain today honored the Minister of Municipal Rural and Housing Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail for his efforts in community service and volunteer and humanitarian work, as well as his role in establishing volunteering values in youth supporting their participation in the social life and developmental work. The presentation was attended by Bahraini Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa and several ministers in Bahrain. Mr. Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al-Samman, the General Supervisor of the General Administration for Partnerships and International Cooperation at the Ministry of Municipal Rural Affairs and Housing, received the honorary shield.

Organized by the Good Word Society in cooperation with the Arab Voluntary Union, the award aims to honor pioneers of volunteer work in the Arab world, bring their expertise and projects to volunteers from various Arab countries, promote a culture of volunteerism, highlight their role in the comprehensive development of GCC and Arab societies, promote the principle of active partnership with voluntary organizations, bodies, institutions, and associations, and support social responsibility efforts in the private sector.

Furthermore, the Award aims to contribute to directing the energies of youth towards serving their communities, developing the capabilities, talents, and creativity of volunteers, and highlighting volunteer work by deepening communication among individuals who have made a volunteer impact across different generations. It also seeks to transfer knowledge and experiences to the target groups, enabling volunteers to engage in suitable roles that align with their interests, specialties, and age groups.

At the opening of the first Municipal Volunteers Forum, held in Makkah last December, Al-Hogail said MOMRAH managed to engage with more than 260,000 volunteers and aims to reach 1 million by 2030.

It is worth mentioning that in November 2020, MOMRAH inaugurated a center for housing volunteering in partnership with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development. This initiative aims to achieve the objectives of Vision 2030, which supports volunteering in various fields. The center contributes to housing development and works on promoting a volunteer culture while enhancing and organizing the housing volunteering environment in the Kingdom.
