Al-Haqil approves requirements for closed (cloud) stores... within 158 activities
His Excellency the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, Mr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail, approved the requirements for closed (cloud) stores, which included the existing establishments currently practicing the activity of closed stores correcting their situations to comply with the new requirements and conditions within one year from the date of 10/3/2022.
Closed (cloud) stores include commercial establishments located on commercial streets and operating according to a closed-door policy, whereby their goods are marketed through electronic commercial websites and applications, and goods and merchandise are delivered to their customers through an intermediary, whether they operate in the retail trade activity or food and beverage shops and restaurants, as the number of permitted activities amounts to 158 activities.
This step aims to preserve the health and safety of the consumer, create modern business models that keep pace with e-commerce, and create new job opportunities for citizens.
The new licensing requirements include creating a new business model by allowing small businesses to operate within complexes, provided that there is homogeneity in the sub-activities with the main activity.
The requirements also include technical requirements for the receiving and delivery area, which must be at the front of the store, the workers' rest area, restrooms, and the sorting, packing and packaging area, in addition to structural requirements specific to the building, walls, facade, floors and roof of the store, as well as air conditioning, ventilation, electrical wiring, lighting, security and safety and energy efficiency.
