In cooperation between the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing and Ministry of Tourism, in support of tourism investment, the fees for issuing commercial activity licenses for hotels, furnished apartments and residential resorts are cancelled

His Excellency the Minister of Municipalities and Housing, Mr. Majed bin Abdullah Al-Hogail, issued a decision to cancel the fees for issuing commercial activity licenses for hotels, furnished apartments, and residential resorts, effective from Wednesday, September 4, 2024. This decision is based on the directive issued in this regard, continuing the ongoing efforts to facilitate municipal procedures and services in Saudi cities, as part of the focus on developing the tourism sector and enhancing the quality of tourism services provided to citizens, residents, and tourists, while providing an attractive investment environment for investors and enhancing competitiveness in the sector.

This decision aligns with the objectives of Vision 2030 to make the Kingdom one of the leading global tourist destinations. It also contributes to the development of the tourism sector and improving the quality of services offered, encouraging investors to engage in tourism investment and benefit from promising investment opportunities, in addition to its role in developing infrastructure in the tourism sector, especially regarding hospitality facilities and reducing operating costs.

The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing and the Ministry of Tourism called on investors in the tourism sector to benefit from the decision by issuing or renewing commercial activity licenses for hotels, furnished apartments, and residential resorts through Baladi platform by visiting the link balady.gov.sa, and to adhere to the requirements and work on improving and developing their facilities to ensure sustainability and quality in tourism services. The Ministries confirmed their efforts to organize a series of workshops and awareness sessions for hotel, furnished apartment, and residential resort owners to explain and clarify the decision and provide necessary support and advice to investors in the tourism sector.

It is worth noting that the decision to suspend the fees for issuing commercial activity licenses for hotels, furnished apartments, and residential resorts is a strategic step aimed at supporting investors and encouraging them to inject more investments into the tourism sector, contributing to the creation of new job opportunities and increasing the sector's contribution to the GDP. This decision is also one of the investment facilitation initiatives in the tourism sector launched last March, aimed at facilitating investment in Saudi tourism.
