"Municipalities and Housing": Efforts continue to enhance the growth of the housing sector and improve the quality of life for Saudi families.

The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing continues its tireless efforts to develop the housing sector and improve the real estate services system in various regions of the Kingdom. During the year 2024, the sector witnessed remarkable growth in the housing supply and an increase in ownership rates, which contributes to achieving the goals of the Housing Program - one of the programs of Saudi Vision 2030 - by raising the ownership rate for families to 70% by the year 2030.

In a press statement issued today, the Ministry affirmed its continued efforts to regulate and develop the housing sector in cooperation with its partners and its executive, financial and regulatory arms to create a prosperous and sustainable housing environment, by providing diverse housing options and solutions that suit the needs of Saudi families, developing integrated residential communities and suburbs, in addition to facilitating procedures for obtaining financing, and strengthening partnerships with the private sector.

She explained that the residential sector witnessed growth in the supply of housing and real estate during the year 2024, as about 70,000 new housing units were offered in 163 projects, bringing the total number offered to more than 200,000 housing units within integrated residential complexes with facilities and services through the executive and investment arm “ NHC ”, while the number of housing units delivered reached about 23,000 housing units in 2024, with a growth rate of 33% compared to the year 2023.

The ministry noted the continuation of projects to establish and develop residential suburbs that provide an attractive living environment and take into account the elements of well-being and quality of life, as the year 2024 witnessed the launch of the “Makkah Gate” destination in the Makkah region and the “Sunset Destination” in Madinah, bringing the total number of suburbs and residential communities developed by “ NHC ” to 17 residential destinations.

She pointed out that more than 117,000 Saudi families benefited from the solutions and options of the Sakani program during the past year, including more than 93,000 families who moved into their homes, with a growth rate of 9% compared to 2023. The total number of families benefiting from units under construction reached more than 17,000 families, ready units more than 44,000 families, developmental housing more than 21,000 families, while more than 35,000 families benefited from other housing options.

The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing indicated that the developmental housing sector witnessed growth during the current year, as the total number of Saudi families who owned their homes within the developmental housing program during the year 2024 reached more than 21,000 families in various regions of the Kingdom, with a growth rate of 24% compared to the previous year, while the number of volunteers reached approximately 263,000 male and female volunteers.

She noted that the total number of subsidized financing contracts for beneficiaries of the Sakani program for 2024 reached about 93,000 financing contracts, with a growth rate of about 15% compared to last year, as the support was deposited for the program beneficiaries through the Real Estate Development Fund with a total value of more than 11.9 billion Saudi riyals, bringing the total number of subsidized residential financing contracts since the beginning of the program to more than 778,000 financing contracts.

The White Land Fees Program recorded growth in the real estate supply of more than 160 million square meters in various regions of the Kingdom, as the areas of land that have been developed exceeded 75 million square meters, while the areas of land under development amounted to more than 48 million square meters. Part of the revenues from the fees were allocated to developing the infrastructure for residential projects, as more than 2.7 billion riyals were spent on developing and preparing the infrastructure in more than 100 residential projects until the end of 2024.

Regarding efforts related to regulating the real estate sector through the General Authority for Real Estate, the sector witnessed increasing growth during the year 2024, as the number of documented lease contracts reached more than 3.3 million contracts until the end of September of the same year. Also, 190 licensed projects were provided within off-plan sales projects, and more than 350,000 licenses were issued for real estate brokerage activities during the same period.
